Frequently Asked Questions
What are you? Co-op?
We are a two-day-a-week program serving students in PreK through 2nd grade (inquire about 2-5th grade please) designed to support and enrich your homeschool journey. With structured morning classes, a relaxed lunch hour, and engaging afternoon connection time, we offer a space where your child can learn, explore, and build community.
Our center is an optional drop-off program, giving homeschool families the flexibility they need, along with the assurance that students are learning in a safe, Christ-centered environment led by caring and passionate teachers.
We recognize you—the parent—as the primary educator. Our role is to come alongside you, offering high-quality classes, meaningful friendships, and the resources you need to homeschool with confidence and freedom.
Where are classes held?
All classes and connection times take place in the upstairs classrooms at Shoal Creek Community Church, conveniently located just north of QuikTrip near I-35 and Pleasant Valley Road. Our address is: 6816 N Church Rd, Pleasant Valley, MO 64068.
What days are you in session?
Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9:30-2pm
We take similar Christmas and Spring Breaks as the school districts. A calendar is under the events tab.
What about inclement weather days?
Snow days are also similar to the school districts and an email for inclement weather will be sent out or posted on our Facebook/Instagram.
Do I have to be a member of Shoal Creek Community Church to attend?
No. Our classes, programs, and resources are open to all families in the community.
Can my elementary student join for just part of the year or part of the morning?
To keep things consistent and community-focused, elementary students enroll for the semester in a single class block.
Do I pack a lunch & snack?
Yes, a packed lunch, healthy snack, & water bottle must be packed daily.
We also believe in cultivating a sense of responsibility and ownership in our students. That’s why each month, students will have opportunities to serve as classroom helpers, assisting with simple cleaning tasks and caring for their shared spaces. It’s a beautiful way to build character, teamwork, and pride in their environment.
Do I need to walk my child in for drop-off and pick-up?
Yes—all elementary students must be dropped off and picked up by an adult each week. You do have the option to stay with your child.
What will a day in an elementary class look like?
Your student will participate in lots of hands-on learning, play with their peers, crafts, projects, and more! They will stay with their teacher and 11 classmates for the duration of the year.
Who are the teachers and staff?
Our team is made up of dedicated, paid staff members—who are background-checked, trained, and carefully selected for their passion and experience. Each one loves Jesus and is deeply committed to caring for your child, both academically and spiritually. We’re here to create a safe, joyful space where every student feels known, valued, and supported.
What security measures are in place for student safety?
Your child’s safety is our top priority. After drop-off each day, our classroom hallway doors are locked and accessible only by staff key fobs to ensure a secure environment. We also use a check-in and check-out system to carefully track student arrivals and departures, giving families peace of mind and accountability. The Pleasant Valley Police Department is conveniently located down the road as well.
Are there programs for parents and families to attend?
Yes! We love building community with the whole family. Throughout the year, we host a variety of events—from family gatherings and parent socials to field trips and holiday parties. There's always something in the works, so be sure to check the Events tab & Facebook for the latest updates.
What extras do you offer?
We love making learning memorable! Throughout the year, we offer a variety of fun holiday parties, field trips, events, seminars, birthday celebrations, and more. Families will also have the option to purchase a Homeschool Center yearbook and school spirit wear.
What are the parent volunteer expectations?
While we’ve hired and trained a dedicated staff to lead our program, The Good Life Homeschool Center thrives when parents and staff partner together. We view this as a team effort, and your involvement helps us create something truly special.
Though day-to-day operations are covered by our staff, we do require parent participation for field trips and outreach events. Beyond that, there are plenty of ways to get involved—whether it’s volunteering at special events, decorating for parties, helping with outreach opportunities, planning future events, or lending a hand in other areas.
What can I do while classes are in session?
If you choose to stay on campus, you're welcome to relax in our parent lounge—a cozy spot where you can connect with other parents, enjoy a quiet moment, or plan out your homeschool week. We also offer a nursery space where you can spend time with little ones who aren’t quite old enough for The Good Life.
Need to catch up on emails or planning? Free Wi-Fi is available to make your time here comfortable and productive.
What if my child has a food allergy?
We take student safety seriously and will do our best to accommodate any food allergies or dietary restrictions. If your child has a known allergy, please reach out to us directly so we can work together to create a plan that keeps them safe and comfortable during their time at the center.
What is the enrollment + supplies fee?
There is a non-refundable $165 registration fee per student, due at the time of enrollment.
This helps us reserve your child’s spot and prepare materials/supplies for the upcoming year.
